Misconceptions Regarding Dog Training Fences
One of the most common misconceptions about an electronic dog training fence is
that the dog would not be able to cross the boundary. This is simply not true,
as dogs are only given warning beeps or corrections. However, in time, your pets
are naturally conditioned not to cross the line because of the discomfort that
these signals cause.
Another misconception is that these warning signals cause pain to the animal.
This is also not true, as initially, only a sound is transmitted, which serves
as a warning to your pet. If your pet is stubborn and proceeds, then a mild
electronic impulse is given. This is harmless, but it is uncomfortable enough to
make your pet stop in its tracks.
There are other devices that pet owners could opt for, such as citronella dog
sprays that are virtually harmless but help condition the dog's behavior because
this organic chemical is repulsive to them.
How to Train Your Dog on the Use of Dog Fences
You can't just install a dog training fence, sit back and relax. It doesn't work
this way. You need to spend time with your dog to familiarize him with the dog
training fence. Your dog has to learn how to respect the dog training fence and
determine the boundaries.
You can set up small flags along the boundary to help your dog determine the
territory. During the training, ensure that your dog is leashed so that you will
be able to control him at all times. This will also help prevent your dog from
exiting the yard without you shaking the flags and issuing a correction. Without
proper training, the dog training fence would not be as effective as it should
be. |
